Ingrida Brizga, a teacher from Cesis Primary School Nr. 2, projects PowerPoint presentations and interactive whiteboard materials using Active Inspire programme, including animation, videos for students during the physics and mathematics lessons. Similarly, students prepare PowerPoint presentations, make home videos showing physics experiments, and presentations using Movie Maker programme. For example, scholars from the 6th grade studied a snowman: they measured its mass, calculated its volume, explored how quickly it melts, analyzed the snow purity or pollution. Activities were recorded by photos, videos and presentations.Strong points and opportunities:Videos and virtual experiments are good tools for getting young people interested in almost any issue.
Practical experiments motivate students.
The experiment was close to the students’ everyday life.Limitations:The school has to have a SMART Board.
Students should have tools for making videos.Added value with regards to the 3 topics of the MASS project:WG1. Use of Active Inspire, Power Point, Movie maker.
WG3. Connection to the everyday life is motivating for low achievers.Any prerequisites needed:SMART Board, presentation technique
Videos/smartphones/tablets for students
