Working Group:Low Achievers in ScienceCountry:LatviaLanguages:EnglishAge of students (target group/s):6-12Contact person information:Inese Liepina Aija Staskevica from Vecumnieki Primary School thinks that science books usually contain too much text. Some students have bad reading skills and simply do not understand a topic because they cannot read the entire text. To involve these children and help them understand, she makes presentations with visualisation elements for every topic. It takes more time but help students understand the science. Sometimes the teacher asks students to visualise science experiments themselves or to write a story or draw a comic about it; e.g. write a story about beavers dam in the nearest river, or draw a comic about measuring the air temperature.Strong points and opportunities:Visualization gives possibility for low achievers to understand the lesson. The information in a text is presented in another way.Limitations:Time-consuming.Added value with regards to the 3 topics of the MASS project:WG3 Visualization gives possibility to low achievers to understand a complicated text.Any prerequisites needed:Presentation technique | ||
